Axicon 6100-S 1D Linear Barcode Verifier

The Axicon 6100-S  1D barcode verifier

This verifier is for small linear barcodes, up to 2.7” wide, including the quiet zones. It has a continuous scan feature. It quickly captures, grades and averages the 10 scans required by ISO/IEC. Simply place the verifier slightly above or below the barcode, press the trigger, and slide the verifier over the code – in less than a second, it processes up to 100 scans of the barcode at different points in the bar height.

This verifier has a continuous scan feature, which means that obtaining at least ten different readings throughout the height of the barcode (as required by ISO/IEC) is much faster. Simply place the verifier slightly above or below the barcode, press the trigger and slide the verifier over the code – in less than a second you can have results of up to 100 scans of the code at different points in the bar height.

Barcode verifier accessories

Axicon IQ/OQ/PQ Test Kit

Test your verifier to make sure it is compliant with ISO specifications for a barcode test instrument. IQ/OQ/PQ kits are available for 1D or 2D verifiers.

Description

Axicon has developed an IQ/OQ/PQ (installation, operational and qualification) test protocol kit to meet the requirements of users who want to be able to rigorously check their equipment on-site.

Many companies, especially those in the pharmaceutical and medical device sector, will be familiar with Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) testing. These are tests designed to check that the relevant equipment has been installed correctly, that the equipment operates correctly, and then works correctly as intended.

The IQ/OQ/PQ Kit is available for Axicon verifiers, and is available in two forms, one for linear barcode verifiers, and one for the 2D barcode verifiers.

Each kit comprises a set of precision-made, NIST-traceable reference test cards and a protocol document. (NIST is the USA’s National Institute of Standards and Technology.) When the user has carried out the tests they can be sure the verifier is working as intended, and it can be re-certified as being compliant.

Each of the cards is printed with a precisely engineered symbol of known size and characteristics, and these are used in turn to check particular aspects of the verifier’s operation.

Once the test has been completed satisfactorily, the user can self-certify that their particular verifier is compliant with the relevant ISO/IEC standards. For linear barcodes, these are ISO/IEC 15426-1 and ISO/IEC 15416, while for 2D verifiers they are ISO/IEC 15426-2 and ISO/IEC 15415. (Any verifier that can assess both linear and 2D symbols must comply with all four standards.)

If the verifier does not meet the requirements of the PQ tests, it must be returned to Axicon for servicing and factory configuration

NIST Traceable Reflectance Calibration Card

New Axicon 1D and 2D verifiers come with a dated NIST traceable reflectance calibration card, which expires in 24 months under normal usage. Replacements are recommended to make sure you are accurately re-calibrating your 1D or 2D verifier accurately.

Description

Single cards or 5 Packs are available. These are Axicon branded calibration cards but can be used to calibrate any ISO compliant 1D or 2D verifier. Use the Learn More link below for further information on barcode verifier accessories.

2D Barcode Verifiers

Axicon 15000 Series 1D/2D Universal Barcode Verifiers

The Axicon 15000 series is a linear and 2D barcode verifier. The system uses a special array of LEDs and a CCD-based sensor to capture each barcode image before it is analyzed.  It can verify multiple barcodes within the same field of view, whether 2D or linear, and the user can view the results for each barcode by selecting it on the screen.

QR Code, GS1 QR Code, Data Matrix, and GS1 Data Matrix symbols can all be verified, as can any EAN/UPC, ITF-14, GS1-128, Code 128, or Code 39 symbol.

The software also includes the option to analyze captured images of direct part marked Data Matrix and QR-Code symbols in accordance with ISO/IEC 29158 to verify the quality of those marks.

The Axicon 15000 series verifiers are powered solely by a USB 2.0 port, making them portable when used with a laptop.

15200

Field of view: 60mm x 45mm (2.36″ x 1.77″) Smallest recommended linear x-dimension of 0.160mm (6.3 mil)

Features & Benefits

ISO/IEC-compliant linear & 2D barcode verifier. Each linear symbol is automatically analyzed using 10 scans of the barcode height, as specified in ISO/IEC 15426-1. Each barcode can be verified at any orientation, so using the Axicon 15000 series verifiers requires no special expertise.

The software enables symbology auto-discrimination, automatic variable aperture, scan saving and loading, and display of x-dimension and magnification. The data content of each symbol can also be analyzed using optional plugins for the software, which is available in five languages.

Traceability features include the ability to save raw data files, which can also be used for remote diagnostic support.  The software is available free of charge and continually updated to ensure it meets the latest requirements of the relevant ISO/IEC standards and other applications.

3db Barcode Testimonial

Our company (an advanced software company) recently worked with Barcode Test to source a barcode verifier.  Not long ago, we were awarded a contract requiring products to be marked with IUIDs in accordance with MIL-STD-130.  For that standard, marking labels must pass a verification test that evaluates many variables (contrast, size, clarity, syntax, modularity, and more).  After a thorough search, we reduced our options to a select few.

In our search for a verifier, the Axicon line caught our attention.  Barcode Test is our regional reseller for this product.   From the beginning, they were very prompt with their responses.  We ended up having a quick call with John Nachtrieb to go over our needs.  John was extremely easy to work with and provided a lot of great information.  He was very knowledgeable on the matter and was quick to offer up a demo unit (free of charge).

Upon receiving the demo verifier and testing it, a few questions arose.  John joined a call with us and answered all our questions.  Ultimately, the Axicon verifier wasn’t the best fit for us, so we shipped the demo back.  John was completely understanding.  A few weeks later, Barcode Test reached back out with another possible verifier for us to try.  While they didn’t sell that brand, they just wanted to help us find the best option that met our needs. They even offered to send us the unit that they have in-house to see if it worked to our liking.

Barcode Test is truly a great company to work with.  Their service and willingness to help the customer are far beyond what you typically get from other companies.  They are experts in barcode quality assurance and seem willing to help in any way they can (even if that means not getting a sale and recommending another option that better fits the customer’s needs).  If anyone is in the market for barcode verification/scanning services or products, I would highly recommend giving Barcode Test a call.
